tha saddest movie...
i've seen A LOT of movies in my life time... like.. A LOT... probably thousands of movies...
i've seen hundreds of them multiple times... not many leave me w/ that feeling... or invoke a reaction... there's a small number that when i sit down to watch them, i feel like there's an impending something... they're exciting, they're scary, they move me...
one of those movies is frankie and johnny... billed as a romantic comedy, i find it to be the saddest and most depressing movie i've ever seen... never has a film captured loneliness like this.... the characters are so broken and tragic... the setting is so glum and oppressing... i can barely take it.. but i keep watching it b/c there's a certain beauty in all that sadness... the little things that get these characters going.. their passions for... keeping going...i can't describe it, there's a magnetism in the leads, there's this electric vulnerability that lights the darkness...tiny fireflies spark on the screen b/w frankie and johnny...

M: i've never seen lie w/ me, and it's been years since cinema paradiso, and boy, when i was like.. 8 and watching it, at 2 am w/ my dad, i did cry, but there's smthing about frankie and johnny...have you seen it?
no, it looked too depressing for me...m
I think only people who are truly happy in life can appreciate those kinds of movies. For the rest of us, it's what could finally put us over the edge...m
